HELEN MARTIN STUDIO, BUTTERWORTH HALL ARTS CENTRE - THE UNIVERSITY OF WARWICK

The Helen Martin Studio is an extension to the Butterworth Hall Arts Centre at the University of Warwick. The studio accommodates a rehearsal space large enough to hold a full symphony orchestra rehearsal. The studio doubles as a small performance space along side the existing concert hall which was refurbished as part of the same project. Located adjacent to the rehearsal space is a new suite of changing and dressing rooms with ensuite and shower facilities. The architecture of the extension is formed from a series of interlocking blocks each defined by its own material. The rehearsal studio is a sand stone box with a large corner window providing views in and out. The dressing rooms and the changing suites are clad with dark grey block work and frosted glass to reflect the privacy of the activity within. Project undertaken whilst working at ADP.
