DESIGN COMPETITION: Swirls and Eddies

Our competition entry for a new and exciting education centre in Shropshire. The design is focused on links with the River Teme and the river restoration and educational activities. The building and landscape concept have been informed by the natural course of a river with flowing curves dominating the design. The roofs are finished with shingles replicating the scales of a fish and allowing the building to shimmer in the landscape. Timber and locally sourced reclaimed stone are also proposed. The education centre is thoughtfully designed to respond to the client’s brief, to address the site and surroundings and respect the sensitivity of the natural landscape, including the SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) designated River Teme.
